Share your talent with a friendly audience and meet like-minded individuals in a supportive and creative environment. Whether you're a seasoned performer or a first-timer, our stage is open to everyone. For those participating it is recommended that you arrive early for registration. A basic sound system will be available on-site. Enjoy the evening with BYO food and BYOB.

Tuesday yoga at the Brookfield Old Town Hall, running through the summer, taught by Deonne Poplawski or Sarah Shaw. Deonne brings a playful, supportive energy and believes yoga is for every 'body.' This year she's offering a Gentle Flow Class incorporating Vinyasa, Energy Medicine Yoga, Breathwork and gentle Kundalini Kriya — multi-level, appropriate for beginners and advanced practitioners. Sarah has been practicing yoga for over a decade with an emphasis on vinyasa-style practices, where breath and body connect with fluidity, intention, and ease through creative and playful transitions. She's dedicated to creating safe, kindred community spaces.

Join us for Vermont Suitcase Company's live adaptation of the 1925 film 'My Lady of Whims.' With his annual fundraising gala approaching, where is the councilman's daughter? If the papers find out she's playing 'Shipyard Sally' with those bohemians down by the docks, his campaign is finished! Will Otto, the hired gun, rescue her in time? Will Louisa the maid claim the reward for herself? Can they do it before the banker demolishes their historic hotel headquarters? Action, intrigue, romance, international affairs, and so much more!
Vermont Suitcase Company was founded by theater professionals and educators who grew up in Vermont. Since their first tour in 2018, their mission has been to bring fast, funny, accessible shows all over Vermont. They believe theater should be a party — and everyone's invited.

Between 1880 and World War II, painted theater curtains were artistic features of most New England villages and towns. In Vermont, painted curtains graced stages in town and grange halls, opera houses, and community theaters. A culture of local variety shows and traveling, professional talent flourished in front of those curtains in some very remote Vermont communities. Brookfield's Old Town Hall is one of those sites that has two painted theater curtains.
Through a pictorial tour of some of the 198 historic painted curtains in Vermont, Christine Hadsel, director of Curtains Without Borders, provides a glimpse into the world of talented and often sophisticated artists who were part of the rural cultural scene in a time before television or even the electrification of much of Vermont. The artist of the Brookfield Town Hall curtains, Robert Naves, worked with Paul Brigham, who was in charge of selling the ads and making local contacts. Paul Brigham's son, Richard, is now 88 years old and clearly remembers Naves. He still has some of the ledgers and the original template his father used to place the ads. Richard will be at this event.

Explore the art of mixed-medium collage with artist Jane Ellen Reid. No artistic experience necessary, just a desire to have a fun creative experience — ripping and cutting paper, using a glue stick, mixing and matching colors and textures. All materials provided. Each person will go home with a completed collage.
Jane Ellen will guide the creative process while discussing various collage techniques and ways of using color and design. There is no one way to make a collage — that is the beauty of it, and one of the aspects that makes it the most fun.

It took more than Ethan Allen! Robert Mello discusses his full-length biography 'Moses Robinson and the Founding of Vermont.' Judge Mello will discuss Moses Robinson and his vital role in the birth of democracy in early Vermont.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: A former trustee of the Vermont Historical Society and a retired Superior Court judge, Robert Mello has had a life-long fascination with American history and the law, especially the early history of Vermont.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Moses Robinson appears in books about early Vermont history, but as a minor character in the story of the founding of the state, and with little substance. In this full-length biography — deeply researched in primary sources like state papers, legislative proceedings, court records, and other government documents — Robert Mello restores Robinson to his rightful place as one of the most significant figures in the founding of Vermont and the development of its state institutions.

Guy Babb volunteers with AARP as a presenter on the topic of ADUs. He is a retired lawyer who has done considerable work in the real estate field.
Steve Reid is the Zoning Administrator for Brookfield.
Terry Barber (and his wife Sage) worked through the Vermont Housing Improvement Program to build an ADU on their Brookfield property.
